乐播传媒视频 Senior Secondary College Every Student, Every Opportunity, Success for all Mon, 21 Oct 2024 00:35:14 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.6.1 2025 House Structure /?p=37570 Mon, 21 Oct 2024 00:34:37 +0000 /?p=37570 Hi All,
At present 乐播传媒视频 Senior Secondary College operates within a house structure of four houses; Gawungwa (Yellow), Wagarra (Blue), Wanumarru (Red) and Nangwiya (Green).

In 2024, 乐播传媒视频 Middle Years College moved to a 3 house structure featuring only Wagarra, Wanumarru and Nangwiya houses across both Felltimber and Huon campuses.

In order to align with 乐播传媒视频 Middle Years College and to support the transition from Year 9 to Year 10 the decision has been made for 乐播传媒视频 Senior Secondary College to also move to a three house structure in 2025. This will see the reallocation of Gawungwa students in Years 10 and 11 across the three remaining houses. These changes will be in effect for Head Start commencing on the 19th November.

乐播传媒视频 Senior Secondary College is committed to the personalised attention and support provided within our house structure and has maintained the staffing of our student operations team across the three houses to continue to provide the same levels of support and engagement with students and families as we always have. Our Gawungwa House Leaders are working closely with the other houses to reallocate students across the remaining houses and will support their transition.

We are also committed to maintaining student voice and leadership opportunities and seek to maintain or increase the student leadership roles held from previous years in 2025.

I would like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the Gawungwa Leadership team, past and present, in their support of students and staff and in supporting a smooth transition for their students in 2025.

We look forward to an exciting year for our remaining houses in 2025 at 乐播传媒视频 Senior Secondary College.

Regards,
Mark Smit

GHD Girls in STEM /?p=37552 Mon, 14 Oct 2024 22:07:04 +0000 /?p=37552 Last week, Grace Bartel, Claire Bremner, Mary Persia and Sarah Brill participated in the GHD Girls in STEM week long work experience program, held in 乐播传媒视频.

GHD’s STEM Pathways Program was launched in 2017 and in partnership with North East Water was held in 乐播传媒视频 for the first time last year. The aim of the program is to encourage female students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

They developed practical skills in science and engineering while also gaining insight into the challenges faced by regional communities like 乐播传媒视频. They also explored how STEM innovations, particularly in environmental sustainability and infrastructure, can positively impact their local community.

On the last day of the program, Grace, Claire and Mary presented what they had learned from their experiences to an audience at the North East Water wastewater treatment plant. This final presentation allowed them to showcase their knowledge and participate in a 乐播传媒视频榪uestion-answer乐播传媒视频 session with their 乐播传媒视频榚xpert乐播传媒视频 audience. This will occur at the flagpole area between the main building and the trade training centre. Year 12 students will have access to this area only.
This will conclude with a formal whole school assembly at the flag poles at 10.35am. After which Year 10 and 11 students will form a 乐播传媒视频済uard of honour乐播传媒视频 as the Year 12乐播传媒视频檚 are farewelled out of the school by Mr Hilditch and Mr Whitehead. Students are reminded that all normal school expectations and policies need to be adhered to. These can be viewed on the College website.
Any student who does not adhere to clearly defined College behaviour policies, or fails to follow the directions of any staff member during the day, will be asked to leave the school grounds immediately and may incur further consequences, such as:

  1. Being excluded from the Year 12 Valedictory Ceremony.
  2. Having to sit the exams in a venue other than WSSC.

Valedictory 乐播传媒视频 Thursday 21st November

Increase in pertussis (whooping cough) /?p=37481 Thu, 12 Sep 2024 22:36:22 +0000 /?p=37481 Whooping Cough (Pertussis)

The Ovens Murray Public Health Unit (OMPHU) is monitoring a significant increase in pertussis (whooping cough) cases in our region this year, particularly among school-aged children.

Who is at risk?

In Victoria and NSW, there have been over 10 times the number of pertussis cases in 2024 than for the whole of 2023. Children aged 9-12 years account for nearly 40% of all notified cases. Anyone can get pertussis. Infants less than 6 months of age are at greatest risk of severe disease, hospitalisation, and death. These infants are too young to be fully immunised. Many infants who get pertussis catch it from older children and adults who might not even know they are infected.

What is pertussis (whooping cough)?

Pertussis is a contagious respiratory infection that can cause very serious illness. The disease begins like a cold and then the characteristic cough (乐播传媒视频榳hooping乐播传媒视频 sound) develops. This cough may last up to 3 months, even after antibiotic treatment is completed and the person is no longer infectious. Symptoms may be indistinguishable from other respiratory infections, especially in its early stages. Testing to confirm a pertussis infection can be conducted by a GP.

What should families do?

  • Whooping cough needs to be diagnosed and treated immediately. Seek medical attention for any of these symptoms:
    • a severe cough which that may occur in bouts. The child may appear well between episodes of coughing.
    • characteristic ‘whooping’ sound when they breath in.
    • vomiting at the end of a bout of coughing.
    • the child stops breathing for periods of time and may go blue.
  • Doctors might diagnose whooping cough by checking symptoms, doing a swab of the nose and throat, or by taking a blood test.
  • Doctors may prescribe antibiotics, which can help reduce the seriousness of symptoms and the ability to spread the infection to others.
  • Keep unwell children home from childcare or school for 21 days after the onset of cough, or until they have received 5 days of appropriate antibiotic treatment.
  • Ensure that all family members are up to date with immunisations and follow good hygiene practices. If unsure, discuss this with an immunisation provider, such a GP.
  • If anyone has a cough or respiratory symptoms, take particular care to stay away from babies.
